My Journey Story

My first car was a 1989 Honda Civic two-door, similar to this one, but mine was blue and plastered with
Dave Matthews Band stickers. It now resides in a dump somewhere in New Jersey.

In "real" life, I work as the public relations and publications manager for the Alabama Humanities Foundation. I'm really excited about an upcoming traveling exhibit we're sponsoring called "Journey Stories," in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution. It'll kick off in Jasper at the Bankhead House and Heritage Center June 25-August 7 and travel to five more sites through 2012.

The cool thing about this exhibit is it examines Americans' desire for freedom of movement...something I know well, growing up as an Air Force brat. I wrote about my own journey story on our blog: ahf.net/blog. Please read it when you get the chance!

What's your own personal journey story? Do you remember your first car? Your first train or plane ride? What do you know about your ancestors' journey to America?

  1. Wow, that's interesting how much you travelled growing up! I didn't leave Texas until I was about 15. Crazy right? And I've only left out of the state probably less than 10 times since then.
